04 May 2022 World Metrology Day
Every year, the National Metrology Laboratory of the Philippines (NMLPhil), together with the rest of the world, celebrates World Metrology Day (WMD), which occurs every 20th day of May. WMD commemorates the signing of the Metre Convention made on 20 May 1875 whose aim is “the worldwide uniformity of measurements”
Each year, a theme is selected that embodies an area or field of application where there is significant use of metrology and its effects are far reaching insofar as human activity is concerned. Although this year’s theme is Metrology in the Digital Era, the NMLPhil has decided instead to focus the country’s attention into knowing and understanding the operation of the metrology infrastructure in the Philippines.
The NMLPhil therefore invites you to its webinar entitled “Understanding the Philippine Metrology Infrastructure” on May 24, 10AM to 12PM via the ZOOM and Facebook Live platforms. The webinar topics will include Who’s Who in Philippine Metrology that will show the inter-relationships among the metrology players especially where the regulators fit in the metrological infrastructure, and who is the NMLPhil, what it does and what services it has to offer. There will also be a talk about the new and enhanced version of the metrology bill, and in keeping with the World Metrology Day theme, a talk on digital transformation in metrology in the Philippines. A short survey/poll will be conducted within the talk to determine the prevalence of digital transformation among metrology users in the country, if any. We have also invited the National Project Coordinator of the ARISE + Philippines Project to tell us about their project’s interventions for metrology in the Philippines.
Please confirm your attendance by simply replying to this e-mail NMLPhil_WMD2022@gmail.com so we can provide you the webinar link and how to join us live at Facebook.
The NMLPhil hopes to see you virtually on May 24 and to join us and the rest of the world in celebrating WMD 2022.
